Recon has always been the big, exclusive thing in Halo. In the beginning so few people had it, it was hard to get, and everyone wanted it. I was never terribly interested in it. I’m still not really, but the completionist in me really wants to get it. I got all of the Halo 3 vidmasters quickly and I was really looking forward to getting the ODST vidmasters. Endure was okay, and Deja vu was a whole bunch of fun, so I went to try out classic.

Not cool.

Not. cool. at. all.

It seems like classic relies heavily on being able to drive, which in halo, I’m rubbish at. I cannot drive in halo. So it looks like I won’t be sporting recon – probably ever. It’s not a huge deal, I don’t really care so much about recon myself, but I wish I were a better driver, so that I at least had a chance.

oh well.

 

A little while ago, I got ODST thanks to  my awesome gaming BFF and it is pretty cool. I like playing as an ODST, and I certainly like seeing a different side of the UNSC. The game is darker, scarier, more intense, and even a little harder. The Campaign is a bit too short for my liking. Total Campaign playtime on normal was about 3 1/2 hours for one full run through. I’ve had quite a bit of fun though going back to get all the audio logs, the ‘naughty, naughty’ achievement and it’s counterpart, ‘Good Samaritan’ for deciding whether killing things that are new and different is good, or bad.

Firefight is also an amazing experience, and was definitely something different to add to the general halo experience.  Firefight seems like it can just go on for as long as you can last without losing all your lives, and therefore, the game. My first match of firefight, on lost platoon with 3 players lasted 3 hours! We actually ended up just screwing around in the end and losing all our lives, because we just didn’t want to keep going for fear that it would go on FOOOOREEEVVVEERRR!!!

I think one thing I noticed about ODST, isn’t actually about ODST itself. When I am playing ODST and switch back to playing Halo 3, It’s terribly hard to get used to being a Spartan again. I jump off buildings expecting to lose my shields, wonder where I’m gonna get a health pack, and forget how awesome my Battle Rifle is.

Overall, I really enjoy playing ODST and see myself going back to play it again and again in the future, because while it is halo, it’s completely different, with the same enjoyability. Awesome Game!

Last month, I ordered a super cool shell from skin it, remember?

Well, I decided that since skinit has never made with the badness before, I could totally try again. I mean, it can’t be terrible twice, right? Right! So I went on the shell maker thing again and made this:

Now it’s not the prettiest, but it’s very…me! And personally, I like me. So I had it printed and was excited because I figured that they really couldn’t mess this one up! It came today and I was excited and a bit nervous to open it, here it is:

It’s still cute, but why is it purple? ugh. Oh well. I guess skinit is just bad at pink? I don’t think I’m going to try this again though.

Got my copy of Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise today. (a whole 2 days early!)It’s a whole lot of fun. It really is basically just viva piñata (original, xbox 360) adapted for the handheld, but it fits really well. The controls are wonderful. The graphics are better than you would expect. I do notice quite a bit of blurring during the opening videos, but that is to be expected. So far the game is pretty great. The only thing I’ve seen that I don’t like at this point is that the romance dance mini game (to get coins) is gone. So it’s really hard to make coins, it seems the only way to do so is by selling things (vegetables, piñata) so that kind of stinks, but other than that, the game is quite tops.

Drew got me the camera I wanted for my birthday. HOW EXCITING IS THAT? Anyway It’s really awesome and I think I am going to name him François because I just recently beat Chibi-Robo Park Patrol and my favorite friend in the game was the cool marionette, François who eventually rose above the need for strings. So say Au revoir to Calvin and hello François!

This is our new puppy, Jingles! Isn’t he just so rediculously cute? Okay so I wouldn’t normally put a shirt on him, but whatever, The shirt is our local schools’ colors (Go Wildcats!) and says ‘Team captain. Drew and I found it in that dollar area at target! There were tons of different clothing like cheerleading outfits and such! Too Cute! Also Starring in this picture is Bo-Bo which is that silly toy from PetSmart (Which is not where the pets go of course, but whatever). Anyway isn’t he just anerable? Yeah you can’t handle it! Go Ahead and give his head a little scratchypoo with your mouse. I know you want to.

This is lunch. (Hey I said pic-spam, didn’t I?) Lunch Consisted of a Ham Sandwich on Wheat Bread with colby-jack cheese on it, and an extra half piece on the side. Also Munchies which after taking the picture I promptly picked out all the pretzels, mini doritos and sunchips and gave the cheetos to Drew. And of course a Welches Grape Juice. Mmmm delicious!

This is my monitor/360/computer. Basically this is what I look at when I’m on my computer or playing my 360. My monitor is sitting on an Allsop stand thing that Drew got for me at wal-mart. The 360 fits under it just right and it’s so nice.

Also peeking out are the altec lansing speakers I use and my thumb drive, some random cables or something and my lists. I’m a compulsive list maker. I love to do lists especially.

Not pictured however is my actual computer (the tower, it sits under the table) and my sub woofer box thingy (also under the table.

Oh and Can’t forget Office Home and Student 2007! That’s the best game in that stack! and of course Fruits Basket! 1!

This is my awesome table. It’s where I eat, play games, compute, work, craft and basically do everything! It’s actually about twice as long as you see, but that all got cut off.

OOOOH MAIL! I wonder what if could be! It’s from hong kong! So far away!

It’s my supercard! I was super excited about finally receiving this in the mail, but then I was really sad because it doesn’t work. So now it has to be sent back to deal extreme and I have to wait forever again to get a new one. Drew emailed them about an RMA number but I don’t think he has heard back yet. So disappointing!

Okay, to make it easier I’m just going to do a bit of a bullet list.

• Our 360 died.
  - The dvd drive started making loud noises and then it stopped reading disks, right in the middle of a matchmaking sesh on Halo 3!
  -It’s now sitting in TX hopefully soon to be fixed or something like that…
• ACAD ‘08 is starting off pretty well, despite the fact that I haven’t felt very well.
• We took the death of the 360 as an opportunity to send our Halo 3 game disk in because of the obscene scratching defectiveness and crap and received a new disk back in like a week, along with a one month card, YAY!
• Christmas was pretty cool. I got to spend a lot of time with my family and got many cool gifts, including a HUGE gift card to Gamestop which we used to purchase a PS2 and a bunch of awesome games, including Kingdom Hearts, Wild Arms 3, and In The Groove.

I got these awesome wrist warmers that look homemade but are surprisingly mass produced.
I’ve officially decided to learn to knit so that I can someday make these for myself. I started learning the other night and am doing at least semi-decent. If anyone has any tips go ahead and leave a comment.

Or: Even Better, If you know how to knit, and would like to knit some loverly arm or wrist warmerage in a trade, I’d love to do that. Get in contact with me via a comment and leave your email or a messenger name and I will talk to you and see it there is anything we could work out.

I started making soap and have found I’m actually pretty good at it!

First I made these, which I promptly turned into a set of these:

which actually look much better in real life. They are a light Pepperment scent and they are wonderful.

Then there came these, which were actually a present for Andrew’s (The Boy Creature) Brother Josiah. They are a Crisp Cucumber-Melon scent, and the color is actually really melony (Think Honeydew) and not the pinkish that it looks.

Now after successfully handling that, I decided to jump in full force and created:

They are varying scents and are all very wonderful. They were all gifted to the wonderful people in my life!

I think that’s a decent update for now. I’ll write more later!

For Halloween Bungie has created a special infection playlist. Changed Maps, different gametypes, more fun. Ghosts and Ghouls abound. It’s kinda like when Zombie’s attack, but on your 360. It is all halloween, started at 12:01am PST this morning and it goes until 3am tomorrow, so 27 hours of zombieriffic fun! Anyway, We got in right away, our first game started at 12:02am PST and I recorded a video of it so I thought I would share!

Boy-Creature went and grabbed our reserved copy of Guitar Hero III tonight at the midnight launch. I rocked out on it right when he came home. It’s pretty cool. We got the wii version, because our wii has gotten lonely since halo 3 came out. I think it might be plotting revenge on our 360.

Though I sort of wish we had gotten the 360 version, There are some cool things about the wii version. When you get your star power full the guitar vibrates, and then when you activate your star power it pulses to the tempo of the song. The wrong notes now come out of the controller instead of the television. This is of course all because of the wii-mote though, so that will not be a feature you get with the 360 version. Though I’m not sure if trading achievements for those features is a very fair trade.

Overall, It’s a good game. It seems harder than guitar hero II, notes seem to scroll faster. Those are just initial impressions though.

I beat Beautiful Katamari tonight. It’s a fun game, and there is still a lot I need to do (like get 100 points on every stage,and find all the cousins and presents) but I will find quite a bit of fun in that. I completely enjoyed playing it and recommend it to any gamer person who wants to have a unique gaming experience. Look for a full review in about a week. Even my fiance, boy-creature has (surprisingly to himself, but not to me) enjoyed the game and has beaten it also and plans to play it more, even after making fun of me in all my excitement for the games release.

Went out and grabbed the only copy of Beautiful Katamari at my local gamestop. It rocks.
